I haven’t been real prolific today because we’ve pushed on pretty far. You know how it is… the temperature outside is right above 100 degrees, the car is cool, there’s alot of desert around you, the road seems to go on forever… it’s just easier to point out the window. It’s like you can see the end of the road but just can’t quite get there.

(On a different note, we did stop at a place called Brix for lunch in Flagstaff on the recomendation of a friend… it was really good and completely different than the diner-type food we’ve had.)

Arguments on the road

The worst arguments that we’ve had are me asking to drive and Randy telling me I can’t since I can’t move my arms or reach the pedals. But it looks like so much fun!

For those of you who have asked… we haven’t gotten any tickets (not for speeding, illegal u-turns, stopping in the middle of the road or any of the other slightly incorrect things Elizabth an Randy *may* have done). And, yes, the car handles very well in the 110-120 range. Just sayin’.

Aztec Motel

Some of the motels have developed their own unique style blended with the road. This one, in Albuquerque, has Route 66 stuff and native American stuff all over the walls.

(BTW… Did you know Corvette drivers wave to each other?)

Ok, we’re more than half way through our time… and we’ve finally made it half the distance to LA! (And we’re covering more miles the past couple of days.)

The infamous car sculpture that spawned many imitations (see Rabbit Ranch). Interesting factoid… all the cars are facing the same direction as the pyramids.

Stafford Space Museum

With a quick side trip to space, here’s me by a space capsule and a jet.

A few things we’re learning along the way:
1. Everyone has a story about Colorado.
2. A corvette’s low tire pressure light comes on at exactly 24 PSI.
3. Even with a map, a guide, and (sporadic) road signs… luck and u-turns are your friends.

Rock Cafe

This place was made out of rock excavated during construction of Route 66 (and they made biegnets for us… mmm). We’ll see what the rest of western Oklahoma has in store for us.
